Living with Alzheimer’s disease can be a challenging, confusing and frightening experience. Familiar surroundings become foreign and faces of loved ones may become unfamiliar. It’s at times like these that living arrangements promoting one’s sense of security, self worth, and dignity become crucial, and it’s important to restore the individual’s ability to participate in meaningful activity. We understand the impact Alzheimer’s and memory impairment issues have on families. Memory Garden was opened in 2002 in memory of Tanglewood founder, Louis Ferreri, to provide residents the opportunity to feel independent while also maintaining a high level of safety and care.
Memory Garden was created to provide residents the opportunity to feel independent while maintaining their safety and wellbeing. Through the help of specially trained staff that cares for individuals with memory impairments, each individual is supported in an effort to find optimum participation and social activity.
Memory Garden’s “Path of Care” process works throughout the progression of memory loss to address individualized attention and around the clock support that single caregivers can rarely provide in the home. An emotional and personal approach was taken throughout the phases of our facility design, development, and construction, allowing us to protect residents from their own cognitively poor judgment while helping them to remain functional and active. As contributors in the upkeep of their household, they are encouraged to participate in gender specific activities, and therefore a sense of purpose and well-being remains in their lives.
Located on the same stunning four-acre park as Tanglewood Manor, Memory Garden also features enclosed courtyards with gardens and walking paths, as well as indoor lounges and large group activity areas for residents to enjoy the great outdoors safely and securely.
