Field of Dreams August Lookback
Boy what an amazing summer we have had here at Field of Dreams! With this pandemic refraining us from being limited to what we can’t do, we sure do enjoy the things we can!
We kicked off the month of August with a watermelon social on National Watermelon Day, with the juiciest watermelon we’ve had in a while! We celebrated Field of Dreams’ one year Anniversary with a festive get together, filled with fun music that got some of us off of our seats and into our dancing shoes, homemade chocolate chip cookies baked by our very own baking group, and great company by this wonderful family we have created within this facility.
On National S’mores Day, we honored the day with fresh s’mores and an amazing performance down in our pavilion by the Generations Band, who played familiar tunes from the 50’s and 60’s. We cannot wait to welcome them back for more dancing and fun!
We tried something new, with Armchair Travels. We choose a country, learn about the country and enjoy a delicious treat which is from that location. We kicked off the travel to Italy! With Italian Ice on the menu, it was a wonderful treat on a hot summer’s day.
Some of our ladies enjoyed some KFC takeout in the fresh air and enjoyed the summer sights. Our August birthday party was voted one of the best yet, with ice cream sundaes topped with all the fixings.
We welcomed a Tanglewood Manor favorite, Nan Hoffman, to Field of Dreams down in our pavilion, with the proper COVID precautions. With her acoustic talents, Nan was definitely asked to return for another performance.
Many of our residents here are quite competitive, and what better way to show off the competition, that a Minute to Win-It Challenge against staff! Many laughs were shared as everyone was put to the test to win the game.
With the wonderful weather we have had, residents enjoyed a few fishing in the park sessions and boy were the fish biting! Many favorites throughout the month, such as golf cart rides around the campus, bingo, craft clubs, baking groups, word games, trivia, and physical games are a must!
We have also welcomed a new Wellness program to continue our health and wellness. With such programs like Balancing, Chair Yoga, and Resistance Band classes daily, we take pride in continuing an active lifestyle.
With the summer coming to a close, we can’t help but reflect on a great summer we have had here at Field of Dreams. We are looking forward to the fall season quickly approaching and what it will have in store.
