Memory Care the Magnolia at Frewsburg July Look Back

It’s been a wonderfully fun filled summer in our Memory Care Household at The Magnolia, and the month of July was certainly busy!  This past month has given us many reasons to come together and celebrate the plentiful occasions July has offered us for fun!

During the first week of the month, we had a Fourth of July Picnic in our outdoor pavilion to celebrate Independence Day! On the menu we enjoyed Sahlen’s hot dogs, baked beans, strawberry shortcake for dessert, and iced tea and lemonade as a refreshment. Each year we typically celebrate the holiday with our friends and families, but unfortunately this hasn’t been a typical year. We definitely made the best out of the holiday and enjoyed our time together outdoors immensely! We’re hoping for continued beautiful weather as the next few months approach so we’re able to make the most of our pavilion!

Besides the Fourth of July, another very important and necessary holiday to celebrate was National Strawberry Sundae Day! We were treated with strawberry ice cream filled with frozen chunks of fruit, along with strawberry sauce and whipped cream to top it off! In addition, National Hot Dog Day was observed on July 15th, so naturally we had to have a frank or two to partake in the occasion! We also snuck in an afternoon filled with tasty root beer floats for the fun of it!

Our weekly baking group meets each Monday afternoon and was kept plenty busy coming up with desserts! On the menu this month were “Stars and Stripes” brownies, lemon cake and peanut butter cookies! Our Craft Club also put together butterfly vases filled with garden moss and tree branches from our yard.

Lastly, we had our yearly Senior Olympics Week where we competed against other residents to be claimed as winner! Out categories included Olympic Bingo, Bean Bag Toss, Ladder Ball and Lawn Chutes, followed by a treat of homemade snow cones and Kool-Aide syrup to rejoice in all of our hard work that week!

We are very eager to get into the month of August, and enjoy the wonderful remaining weather while we can still enjoy it! We greatly miss our friends and family, and are very eager to be reacquainted soon!
