Field of Dreams Memory Care Household July Look Back

With this gorgeous July we’ve had, what better way to enjoy it than with lots of fun festivities? We kicked off the month with a wonderful and delicious Fourth of July Picnic. With hot dogs, potato salad, a green bean medley, and strawberry shortcake on the menu, we sure weren’t left hungry!

We enjoyed a very patriotic sing along that left us all in a state of gratitude for living in such a great country. We proudly donned a master piece created by our very own residents, a very large American flag, made of paper chains linked together. Staff and residents alike were in awe of the creation. Patriotic Jeopardy was also on the agenda for our Independence Day festivities.

One favorite here, is lots and lots of painting! Residents love to use water color based paint, to create renditions of memories from our childhood.

With the nice weather, what better way to stay cool than some delicious ice cream! For our July birthday party, residents enjoyed delicious chocolaty brownie ice cream sundaes with all of the fixings. During some trivia sessions, we also enjoyed some freezer pops, or fudge pops.

We had a few nice scenic drives around the town, enjoying the many summer sights of our gorgeous hills, flowers, sunflowers, and lots of tall cornfields!

Residents and staff welcomed honored guests and dignitaries throughout the community for a very exciting Phase Two Grand Opening of our Pavilion, located behind the facility. With live music by the band West, hot dogs and hamburgers, chips and drinks, we danced, sang, and laughed while we celebrated this wonderful event.

We welcomed back some of our favorites, Cindy Sue and Brian Wolcott, and their little friend, Macho. With many classic tunes, everyone in the crowd sang along.

Residents welcomed some unique visitors to the Field of Dreams this month. We welcomed Tracy and Big Mike, the horse; staff member, Kelly brought along her baby pygmy goats; and staff member, Vicki brought her new pup Maggie. With lots of love, laughs, and lots of snacks for Big Mike, it sure was a fun way to start off the day.

We also played many favorites such as Bingo, Stories from a Hat, Bean Bag Twister, Putt Putt Golf, hangman, catchphrase, Memory Lane Trivia, Lawn Darts, Nerf Target Shooting, and balloon volleyball. We sure do keep busy!!

With the dog days of summer still lingering, we are excited to continue enjoying the sunshine this summer. With August in sight, we can’t wait to continue having more events in our new pavilion and golf cart rides!!
