Field of Dreams May Look Back

One thing is for certain here at Field of Dreams, we sure are making great memories our first May. With warmer weather, the trees filling with the wonders of green, and flowers in full bloom, we sure are taking advantage of enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.

We welcomed the month with a festive Cinco de Mayo with a fun few rounds of Cinco de Mayo bingo, followed by the big crowd favorite, Walking Tacos. Yum!

We continued strong with our monthly festivities with a memorable Mother’s Day. Our moms enjoyed a Mother’s Day Tea with assorted flavored teas in our fine china tea cups and delicious assorted cheesecakes. Due to not being able to have visitors indoors, we honored all mothers here with filled hearts, with an amazing Mother’s Day Parade. We welcomed special guests, Allegany Mayor Greg Pearl, COO of the Greater Olean Chamber of Commerce, Meme Yanetsko, and State Senator George Borello to host as judges, for the top three best decorated vehicles of loved ones that joined in on the parade. The smiles, anticipation to see loves ones, and excitement once they saw their families driving as well as our local law enforcement leading off the parade was simply amazing.

We celebrated May resident birthdays with a fun birthday party, as well as held our monthly Tea Party which is always one all look forward to. In honor of National Strawberry Day, our residents got quite the treat with homemade strawberry short cake, during our strawberry short cake social. We took advantage of the warmer weather on Memorial Day with a picnic on our patio with burgers, potato salad, a summer vegetable medley, watermelon and some refreshing lemonade and iced tea.

We enjoyed Painting with Jessica this month, with vibrant colors of pinks, orange, purple and yellows to create a calming forest scene. We had a competitive Senior Health and Fitness Day Wellness Challenge with our Wellness Coordinator, Rick with a Nerf Target shooting session and lawn darts. Its safe to say, many of the ladies have quite the shot, beating Rick by a landslide during the target shooting session!

Our green thumbs are in full swing with garden tending of many tomato plants, fresh herbs, and carrots in hopes to share with our Dietary staff for some meals as well as a future sauce making party in the future.

During our craft clubs this month, the ladies got to experience making their own stickers for glass jars, with their own family images. Painting is always a favorite, so we painted rocks with our own creative preferences and they turned out amazing!

We are looking forward to an eventful June with many more fun events to come. With Father’s Day coming up, and our outdoor pavilion almost complete, we are looking forward to many more outdoor events!
