The Magnolia at Frewsburg Rest Home April Look Back

The month of April came and went, and as the month has come to a close, our folks at The Magnolia are becoming more eager to head outside as the promise of summer lurks around the corner!

Although we have had to make some adjustments to our daily lives, we’ve conquered the transition with patience and grace as we adapt to our new “normal.” Every year The Magnolia hosts our Annual Easter Egg Hunt for the community, and since we were not able to have it this year, we decided to have one for ourselves. With the help of the Activity Department and additional staff, they were able to hide over 200 eggs throughout the facility to have their own kind of Easter fun! Of course, we also had to celebrate the holiday with a party. On Good Friday we held an Easter party in conjunction with our weekly “Happy Hour” that we host each Friday afternoon. We had a delicious slice of cake decorated with some marshmallow peeps that was kindly donated by our HHA, Sally. It was the perfect way to kick off the Easter weekend.Since we have our beautiful bar to utilize, it was only fitting to celebrate National Beer day on April 7th! Our baking group whipped up a delicious beer cheese (made with non-alcoholic beer) with soft hot pretzels to dip! Not only did we serve non-alcoholic beer, we also made certain we had sparkling grape juice for all of our “wine” drinkers too!

In between our rounds of bingo, craft activities, and our favorite card game “Zonk,” we made sure to take time to enjoy the great outdoors. In preparation for the upcoming summer weather, we got a head start on our flower garden by planting asters and marigolds indoors to be
transplanted in our garden. In addition, we planted our very own Red Maple tree for arbor day.

We have plenty to look forward to in May here at The Magnolia! With the break of beautiful sunshine and bright blue skies, we’re able to spend more time outdoors – whether it be on our comfy front porch or the vast backyard we share. We can’t wait to open our home to our family members and friends once we are able to again. Please remain thinking of us as we spend time thinking of you. We hope to see everyone very soon!
