Magnolia February Look Back

The month of February has been wonderful for us at The Magnolia, as it has been full of good times, great friends, and celebration. We began the very first day of the month recognizing “National Candy Making Day” by putting our baking group to work! We spent the morning in our bistro mixing colored chocolates into cupid and heart molds, which we later enjoyed during our afternoon beverage social.

We also welcomed the Jamestown Jackals basketball team back to The Magnolia this month. Our folks had such a great time hosting players AJ, Mika, Drew and Raheem and inviting them to play one of our favorite games, bean bag toss, with us. We are so grateful they took the time to come out and visit with us, we can’t wait to catch one of their games in March!

Between trips to our favorite community outing such as Walmart and the dollar store, we also went to dinner at La Cocina in Lakewood, Game Time Sports Grill at the bowling alley, and lastly The Dinner Bell for breakfast in honor of National Pancake Day.

Valentine’s Day was celebrated accordingly, as the Activities Department hosted a special luncheon for couples, and a celebration in the afternoon. Our Magnolia couples were treated with a lunch consisting of salad, lasagna, cottage cheese, bread sticks, and cherry cobbler for dessert! In the afternoon, our baking group provided us with delicious homemade and heart-shaped sugar cookies and a delicious sherbet punch. It was definitely a great time had by all.

February 17th is recognized annually as Random Acts of Kindness Day, and we decided to decorate and write cards to Operation Gratitude, which is an organization that distributes letters, cards, and care packages to active duty soldiers, veterans, and their families. We really enjoy being able to reflect upon our blessings and give thanks to those that do so much for us.

Lastly to end the month of February, we decked out in our best purple, yellow and green, and had a fun and festive Mardi Gras party, followed by our monthly birthday party.

We are looking forward to the start of spring as we look into the upcoming month of March. We can’t wait to get a start on our backyard garden, and participate in the Saint Patrick’s Day high jinx that comes along with the day! As always, we would love to extend a welcome to any friends and family members that would like to join in on the fun with us at The Magnolia!
