Field of Dreams February Look Back

What a joyful February we’ve had this month here at Field of Dreams! The love was sure in the air with lots of fun festivities!

We kicked off the month with a festive Super Bowl Party with yummy snacks and punch. We even had a poll going amongst residents and staff on who would get the final score of the game!

We welcomed Dawn Calabrese and her husband who performed some old tunes that brought back many fond memories.

We welcomed the Silver Wolves volunteer group from St. Bonaventure University throughout the month as they joined in on playing Bingo and other games with some of our residents here. We are so excited to welcome them back in the upcoming months!

We had a competitive game of  Jeopardy with February themed questions as well as a huge favorite here, Constaninople. This game consists of a very large word that can be found in the dictionary. It is a group effort to break down the word to as many small words as possible. Definitely a brain teaser and great fun by all. Other games we love to get our hands on are Bingo, Dice Bingo, Yahtzee, Uno, and Apples to Apples.

We welcomed back some of our Pet Therapy friends as they put many smiles on our faces. We were so happy to be able to share some treats with them as their owners got them do perform some neat tricks.

Our friends at BOCES joined us on Valentine’s Day, to put together a sweet craft with us. The love was in the air and many laughs were shared. It was so great to have them back for their visit with us. We shared the love while making handmade Valentine’s cards during our Valentine’s Day social. We can’t forget about our fun and festive photo booth!

In honor of “National Margarita Day,” we of course had a “Mocka-rita” Happy Hour, with some delicious Margaritas. We couldn’t forget the Jimmy Buffett music!

On Mardi Gras, we celebrated “Fat Tuesday” with some delicious Take-Out from Tasta Pizza. It was easy to say there weren’t any leftovers. In honor of Mardi Gras, our baking group ladies baked up outstanding Mardi Gras themed cupcakes that they sure were very proud of. Mardi Gras trivia topped off our Mardi Gras themed birthday party as well.

Painting with Activities Director, Jessica Paprocki, was again a huge hit with newer members added to the group. The group this month learned the art of blending colors, while creating a bright and sweet “love bird” scene.

Our monthly readings of Chicken Soup for the Soul, were about positive thoughts and kindness. We discovered during our readings, that a resident of ours has a great talent of poetry writing and shared some of his pieces with us.

We are getting amped up for upcoming March, full of luck and the new Spring that awaits us. We are counting down the days to many fun events and activities out on our patio and courtyards as well as getting our hands dirty with gardening. If you have any questions or comments for upcoming activities, please contact Jessica Paprocki, Activities Director at (716)543-4200, extension 4215, or email at [email protected]

The safety and security of our current and future residents is our top priority. We are admitting new full-time residents after a professional health screening. Employment opportunities are also available. Due to COVID-19, all visitation is currently suspended until further notice.Learn more.
