Tanglewood Manor January Look Back

The New Year is off to a great start here at Tanglewood Manor! What better way to ring in the New Year than with music?

We had a blast with musical guests, the Lamberts, the Larson Family, and Cindy Sue Wolcott. Everyone enjoyed singing along to old favorites, an there was some dancing too! Even Cindy’s dog got in on the act!

New Year’s was not the only holiday we celebrated this month. On “National Word Nerd Day”, we had a Scrabble tournament. There were two intense games going on throughout the morning, with the winners receiving a large Hershey bar for their efforts. Speaking of chocolate, January 27th is “National Chocolate Cake Day”. Our baking group had a great time baking and eating delicious chocolate cupcakes!

We had a lot of fun playing “Fact or Fiction” on “International Skeptics Day.” Residents were read a statement and they had to decide if it was a fact or fiction. Some other fun games were Boggle, Trivial Pursuit, and What’s in the Bag?

We tried to keep our New Year’s resolutions for staying active and fit this month. Old games like ladder ball, corn hole, and bowling were crowd favorites. We also playing a lively game of Shuffleboard as well.

The Tanglewood Trekkers began this month as well. Our Wellness Coordinator, Patrick, has begun an indoor walking club. This is a great way for our regular walkers to keep up with their exercise while avoiding the winter weather outdoors.

The craft club made snowmen out of empty cans. Painted white, and decorated with buttons, fabric scarves, and paper hats, they were as cute to look at as they were fun to make. We also began looking forward to Valentine’s Day by making a framed Valentine button collage.

Our outings to Walmart and Dollar General were a highlight as usual. Everyone had fun going to Davidson’s for lunch. We also enjoyed having Johnny’s Lunch on Take-Out Thursday before they close for the season. Our month ended with our “Pre-Super Bowl Party.” Snacks, desserts, and football trivia made for a terrific afternoon.

January was “snow” much fun at Tanglewood Manor, but we think February will be even better! If you have any questions or comments for upcoming activities, please contact Kelly Pattyson, Activities Director at (716)483-2876, ext 2222, or email at KPattyson@tanglewoodmanor.com.
