Field of Dreams November Look Back

What an amazing, blessed, November we’ve had this month here at Field of Dreams. We are slowly getting into the holiday spirit and have never been more grateful to see our family grow here.

We kicked off November with a fun trip to Perkins for a delicious and filling lunch!  We also got to try out one of the best diners in town, Green Acres Cafe. The residents that went enjoyed every bite, with a classic Reuben as the meal of choice for most!  We enjoyed and welcomed our favorites, Bryan and Cindy Wolcott as they performed many great classics. We also welcomed Dan “Santa Claus” Haines, as he performed many Classic Country songs.

Our Veteran’s here at Field of Dreams enjoyed a delicious steak dinner held in their honor for Veteran’s Day. They ate every bite and enjoyed some delicious chocolate covered strawberries made by some of our ladies during their baking group that morning. Thank you for your service to all who have served our great nation!

In honor of National Chicken Soup for the Soul day, what better way to celebrate than a cozy Chicken Soup for the Soul poetry and short story readings and hot cocoa, by our big fire place in the lobby. The residents loved the warmth from the fire and all being together. We enjoyed a delicious brownie cake during our November Birthday party, sipped on hot flavored teas and pumpkin streusel muffins during Tea Party.

For our creative craft clubs this month, our goal all month long was to work hard at making our very own Christmas ornaments for the Memory Care wing’s Christmas tree. They turned out beautiful and were appreciated by all. We also worked hard at making homemade Christmas cards to send to the pediatric wing at Roswell. What better way to bring joy to a child’s face than a fun specially, handmade card.

Some of our ladies enjoyed a nice shopping trip to Big Lots for a fun ‘shop til you drop’ session. A few of our residents also enjoyed a competitive round of bowling at Good Times in Olean, followed by a delicious lunch! We are definitely going back next month! We gobbled up some good Wendy’s Take Out as well this month.

Our residents sure did enjoy some fun traditional games here at Field of Dreams. Bingo, Dice Bingo,Bean Bag Toss, UNO, Poke a Turkey trivia game, Thankgsiving Jeopardy, and November Word Scramble were all very popular games that got many of our residents in on the competitive fun!

We ate so much food during our Thankgsiving Lunch and welcomed many of our families to join, to make this a memorable first Thanksgiving here. We would like to thank all the staff who worked hard in preparation for this event and for all of the families that joined in on the fun.

We are so excited for the busy, yet joyful Holidays coming up this December. Filled with many concerts, events, and new traditions, we cannot wait for what this season will bring.
