Field of Dreams October Look Back

What a phenomenal month of October we have had here at Field of Dreams. With the many “spooktacular” events in honor of this Halloween season, it sure was a hit!

We kicked off the month with a great concert held by Joanne and Carl, as they had us moving to some fun oldies music. We also welcomed the Rustic Ramblers who had us tapping our toes and singing along, as they played a mix of some old classic country songs and some Blue grass tunes. We enjoyed the perfect, Autumn foliage on our first outing ever here at Field of Dreams. Our residents enjoyed a ride to the Allegany State Park and Pfeiffers Nature Center. Some of our book worms, got a chance to check out a couple books at the Olean Library and had a fun filled shopping trip to Ollie’s.

In honor of National Cake Decorating Day, we welcomed our special guest, Katlynn, a local baker, to teach us how to use piping bags to decorate our very own cupcakes. They were definitely taste tested at our monthly Tea Party. They were delicious! During our baking groups, the ladies made their very own mini apple pies, which were intriguing as some had never made such cute little pies before! They also made some gooey monster cookies in preparation for our Halloween Social. Our craft club folks got creative with some cute spider webs, some falling leaf decor, which all were hung throughout the hallways of the facility. Pumpkin painting was definitely a must for this festive time of year as well!

The residents loved the creativity for the Halloween themed month, as we had some fun games that occurred during the month. We tried Halloween Hangman, Witch hat ring toss, Poke a Pumpkin, which was a huge favorite, Pumpkin Golf (Putt putt into a real Jack-o-lantern’s mouth), Halloween Jeopardy, Pumpkin Bowling (yes, we used a real pumpkin as the bowling ball), Haunted House creations, and got dirty and made plenty of funny faces during our Halloween What’s in the Bag? game.

For the most entertaining day of the month, you guessed it, Halloween, we welcomed some adorable guests, the Allegany Limestone Kindergarten class, for a fun filled parade. We passed out some yummy treats as they shouted Trick-or-treat through the halls. Following, we had a belly laughing Halloween photo booth, as our residents and staff made silly faces and used some fun props. Our Halloween social was filled with “purple witches potion”, mummy dogs, our gooey monster cookies and many jokes and festive music.

We are saying fair well to the gorgeous weather, and slowly welcoming the windy, early snowfalls. We are looking forward to the upcoming holidays and are excited to see what they will have in store for us here at Field of Dreams.
