Comfort Today April Look Back

Comfort Today kicked off April by celebrating Dyngus Day (which is always the Monday after Easter) by trying out Paczkis (which are Polish jelly-filled donuts).

Student volunteers help clip coupons

Our members have enjoyed clipping coupons for a local food pantry. The food pantry uses the coupons to be able to buy more food for their clients. Clipping and sorting coupons is a great way to keep our fingers and minds active.

We tried something new, and took a small group to the Journey for Active Aging Workshop at Fluvanna Community Church. We enjoyed visiting all the vendor tables, and listened to presentations given by local agencies (that offer assistance to our seniors).  The day ended with a presentation given by Sheriff Joe Gerace on senior safety.

We enjoyed music by the Happy Grams Choir (which usually ends up being a big sing a long), and were joined by Memory Garden, the Memory Care Households at Tanglewood Manor, and the Frewsburg Rest Home. We finished the morning with cookies and punch, and sent our guests off with smiles, and one more memory of a fun time.

This month we tried our first ever Take Out Tuesday. We really enjoyed take out from Johnny’s Lunch, chef salad (trying to stay a little bit healthy), and Girl Scout cookies. I learned that “everything” on a Johnny’s hot dog doesn’t include ketchup (a note for next time).

We really enjoyed joining the ladies at Memory Garden for “tea time”. We had tea cookies, sandwiches, and some nice conversation.  We look forward to doing that again next month.

We have tried a lot of new fun things this month, but really look forward to the warm weather, and being out on our patio, enjoying golf cart rides, and enjoying entertainment in the Louis Ferreri Park.
